pN stands for par Noir. It’s your digital identity: something you create and hold, not an account a company issues to you.
A set of protocols around identity you own. You create a pN. Your content stays in your cloud. Apps sit on top of that, aggregate what you allow, and don’t host or own your data.
par Noir isn’t a platform. It’s a collection of protocols: identity you hold, content in your cloud, and apps that get permission instead of ownership. Traditional platforms issue your account, host your files, and keep you inside their walls. Here the identity and storage stay with you, and products build on top of that.
If an app shuts down or bans you, your identity and files still sit with you. Apps can use what you share. They don’t keep ownership of it.
Your pN and your stuff can move across tools built on it. Switching apps doesn’t mean starting over as someone else’s user.
Most logins are accounts the product owns. A pN is identity you hold. Products recognize you through it instead of owning you as a user.
Think of it as a keycard that needs two secrets to work: an encrypted identity file, plus a name and a passcode you keep private. All three unlock it. Nobody else issues it.
Keep a copy somewhere safe (Downloads, Drive, or a USB) when you create your pN. Set up recovery in the dashboard so losing one copy or one phone is not the end. If every copy is gone and recovery was not set up, you cannot unlock that pN the usual way.
The dashboard (pn.parnoir.com) is where you create and manage your pN. The browser (browse.parnoir.com) is where you browse feeds from people’s own clouds.
So your content lives with you, not on each product’s servers. Apps can aggregate what you share. They don’t host or own it.

Set up recovery in the dashboard when you create your pN. Losing a phone alone isn’t the end if recovery is ready. If you skip it and every copy of the identity file is gone, you can’t unlock that pN the usual way.
